Agra:- Two great Mughal monarchs, Akbar and Shah Jahan, transformed the little village of Agra into a befitting second capital of the Mughal Empire – giving it the name Dar-ul-Khilafat {seat of the Emperor}. Today a visitor to Agra is caught up in a world of contrasting edifices, of red sandstone and white marble, narrow galleys and quaint buggies, and that irresistible charm that this favorite city of the Mughal still retains. It is not surprising, that modern Agra still reflects its Mughal heritage most conspicuously. A walk down the narrow bustling streets of the city will introduce the visitor to the wafting aroma of Mughlai cuisine.

Afternoon visit Agra Fort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. We also recommend a photo-stop at Emperor Akbar’s mausoleum in Sikandra. Itmadullah Tomb known as the Baby Taj Mahal and built between 1622-26 Ad by Nur Jahan the wife of Jahangir in memory of her father Ghias-ud-Din-Beg. From Itmadullah’s Tomb – a wonderful view of the River and the public laundry can be seen which is very interesting.

If you have more time in Agra, you can also take you to see the real Agra – its bylanes and bazaars, where under the shadow of the Jama Masjid, there are Hindu temples and donkey-carts and little shops selling everything under the sun. If you go to the bazaars, don’t forget to sample the famous Agra Petha, a pumpkin dessert with sugar syrup and rose water. (It’s up to your wish).

Overnight stay will be at Hotel.

Early in the morning visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the incomparable Taj Mahal. The world’s greatest monument dedicated to love, the Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1653 AD as a memorial to his beloved queen, Mumtaz Mahal. This pure white marble mausoleum took 22 years and 22,000 craftsmen to build. Taj Mahal is best seen at dawn, when the first rays of the sun light up the marble beautifully.
